Eligibility Criteria

Training Duration, Stipend, and Professional Payouts

The apprentice track is designed exclusively as a professional training course rather than an induction into the formal employee payroll.

This engagement is purely an apprenticeship position for a fixed duration under the Apprentices Act, 1961. It does not represent regular employment or contract placement within the Bank. Apprentices are not treated as employees of State Bank of India and will not be entitled to receive standard bank allowances, health packages, or employee benefits.

  • Training Tenure: The program is fixed for a non-extendable duration of exactly one year.
  • Monthly Stipend: Selected apprentices will receive a consolidated stipend of Rs. 15,000/- per month throughout the 1-year duration. No other financial benefits or allowances apply.
  • Career Relaxation Weightage: Apprentices who successfully pass the final skill evaluation test (Trade Test), complete the full training cycle with verified satisfactory behavior, and obtain the Joint National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC will be granted special weightage and relaxation points during subsequent open recruitments for the post of Junior Associates, as per prevailing bank recruitment policies.

Examination Scheme and Selection Methodology

Selection for the 7,150 training seats relies on a nationwide competitive structure consisting of an online written test and a state-level local language evaluation.

Multi-Subject Online Written Test

The online written exam consists of four separate objective-type components with strict sectional timers.

Structural Exam Rules

  • Negative Marking: One-fourth (1/4th) of the mark assigned to a question will be deducted as a penalty for every incorrect response marked by the candidate.
  • Subject-Specific Pass Marks: There are no minimum qualifying cut-offs enforced for individual test subjects. Candidates must clear an aggregate pass score fixed by the Bank to qualify. A 5% relaxation on the final aggregate qualifying score is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD candidates.

Local Language Proficiency Test

Shortlisted candidates must demonstrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening fluency in one of the local languages specified for their state. The language test is executed immediately after clearing the written exam.

  • Exemption Rule: Candidates who submit official 10th or 12th standard mark sheets or passing certificates proving they have studied the specified opted local language as a core or elective subject are entirely exempt from taking this local language test.

Step 3: Entering Data and Document Uploads

  • Passport Photo: Recent color picture against a light background, sized between 20 KB and 50 KB. Candidates must also capture and upload a live photograph using their webcam or device camera during form filling.
  • Full Signature: Signed on white paper using black ink, with a file size between 10 KB and 20 KB. Signatures executed in CAPITAL LETTERS are invalid.
  • Left Thumb Impression: Clean print on white paper using blue or black ink, with a file size between 20 KB and 50 KB.
  • Hand-Written Declaration: Written in English using a black ink pen on white paper, with a file size between 50 KB and 100 KB. Text written in capital letters will result in rejection.

The official text for the hand-written declaration must be written in the candidate’s own handwriting and read exactly as follows: “I, _______ (Name of the candidate), Date of Birth ______ hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required. The signature, photograph and left thumb impression is of mine.”

Step 4: Fee Submission and Confirmation

Complete the online fee transaction through the payment gateway using credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI tools. Once the payment clears, download and print your finalized application form and system-generated e-receipt for your records.

Mandatory Rules and Credit Score Disqualifications

  • CIBIL Defaulter Restriction: Candidates who have defaults on loan repayments or outstanding credit card bills with any banking or financial institution, and have not regularized their accounts before the date of receiving an offer letter, are completely ineligible for engagement.
  • Single Exam Rule: Candidates are permitted to take the online exam only once. Submitting multiple applications across states will result in only the last valid entry being retained, and all previously paid registration fees will be forfeited.
  • Aadhaar Card Requirement: Except for candidates hailing from Northeastern states, all selected applicants must produce a valid Aadhaar number before signing the apprenticeship contract to authorize training verification.
